Hope that this Christmas Season Finds you all happy, healthy and laughing!

We have enjoyed a year of relative peace and harmony. There have been some changes, but all for the good. We enjoy the support and love of family and friends, near and far.

Taryn and Ben and the kids are doing great. Stryder is in the 2nd grade and having a blast. Shelby is in kindergarten and loving the fact that she is going to school. Soren in 4 and is ready for his chance to start school. Stryder and Shelby are playing basketball this year. They are moving to a new house the first of the year and excited. They will still be within a few miles of us and we are able to visit often.

Katie, Jesse, and Mason are also doing well. In August they moved in with us to put some money away for a house. It has been entertaining having a little one back in the house. Katie cooks some great meals and has been helping Tami with keeping the house up.

Lauren and Justin just bought a house a few miles from ours. They are keeping busy by working, hanging out with friends and family, and fixing up the house. Justin is in the process of testing for Metro Police Department. Lauren still loves her job at the Dentist Office.

Trevor is now in the 5th grade. He does very well at school (except when he gets in trouble for talking!) He played basketball on a summer league this year, and regular season has just started. He received his Arrow of Light award in Cub Scouts and is now an 11 year old Scout. He is looking forward to the upcoming campouts and hikes. He keeps us young!

Tami is feeling pretty good. She continues to work and cart Trevor around and help out in his class every Friday.

In August, Bob received a new job at work. He is now the Human Resources Coordinator for 19 stores in the Las Vegas area. He loves it. Any just a few weeks ago, he was put in as the 1st Counselor in the Bishopric. He also turned 50 this year. We celebrated with a party at home and then a surprise party at Goofy's Kitchen at Disneyland with both his Brothers and Sister and their families. We had a great couple of days together!

Just a few weeks ago, we took our whole family to Disneyland for their Christmas present. We had 13 of us. Some of Jesse's family also joined us, so that made 16, and on Monday, Joan and her family came up and that made 20. Despite the rain and illness, everyone had a blast.

We have been very blessed to be surrounded by people we love and who love us. We are grateful for health, jobs, and blessings that we are showered with. May this time of year also find you feeling the same. Have a great 2011!

Ode to 50

Now that it has been a couple of weeks and I have gotten used to the fact that I have turned 50, I can talk about what a great day that Birthday was.

I was surrounded by family and got some really great gifts. (Thanks Dear for the IPAD!) One of the gifts was this poem that my son-in-law Ben wrote for me.

On August 22nd the day you arrived
I think the world would have been surprised
That such a small bundle would one day be
The man that would work for Donny and Marie
From the House of Fabrics and BYU
You'd get a women to fall for you
You made the wise choice to make her your wife

Utah Vacation

We had a great time up in Utah for a quick vacation. We had lots of fun playing air hockey.

We went to Park City and rode the Alpine Coaster and enjoyed the cooler weather.

School has ended for another year. We can not believe that this year has past so quickly! This is the 2nd time he has had her. She is a wonderful teacher. It was a great year for Trevor.

Something I'm really good at is being myself. I love being me. Being myself is the best, for me, of course.

I love being me. I'm in a great family. It's hard having family over all the time, but you can live with it. Hey, I been living with this, so you can.

His teacher's comment: "Trevor, you make me laugh. You are very good at being you."

Trevor had his last Basketball Game today. Bittersweet that it was the only game that they lost for the season. He really has a great time playing and has the war wounds to prove it!

Busy Week!

This has been a very busy week. It started out on Sunday when I flew up to Salt Lake City for a training class on Monday. Monday morning we woke up to a couple of inches of snow on the ground. On our way to the class, we slid our way through an intersection, hit a curb and blew the front tire on the rental car. I am just glad I was not driving! The class was great and we went to the airport to catch our flight home. After we got there, the flight was delayed over 2 hours. Needless to say we got home very late and it was a long day. The great part was the next day I started vacation. The one thing that I wanted to get done was to repaint our bedroom and bathroom. Thanks to Tami's Dad and sister Tedene, we got it done. We went a dark brown on one wall and a tan on the other walls. We really like the results. We also replaced the toilet in the bath. (Sad life when you get excited about a new toilet!)

On Thursday we had Pinewood Derby at Cub Scouts. Here is Trevor with his car, and some pictures from the race.

On Saturday, Trevor had another Basketball game. His team is undefeated so far. Trevor played a really good game and scored a basket.

And finally, throughout the week, I decided since I was on vacation I would not shave. So here is the end result that was shaved off on Sunday morning. There was just way way too much grey!

It was a really good week. We felt like we got alot done, even if the beard didn't work out!

We welcomed 2010 in by having Joan and YB and Bailey and Quin up from San Diego. Taryn and Ben and the kids were there also. We had lots of good food and celebrated up till 12:15 and then bed!! On the 1st Tami made French Toast for everyone and then that afternoon it was our 2nd annual New Years Day dinner at Fuddruckers. We had a total of 21 family members there. We had a fun time and more good food. We are hoping that 2010 is a good year for the Days!

Christmas 2009

Chirstmas of 2009 was a good day. It started out with our traditional breakfast at the Gaineys with Aebleskivers and Egg and Sausage Casserole. The one person that was missing was Mom Waters. Her spirit was felt with us for the entire day. We then had the kids over for dinner. Dad stopped by and gave each of the girls a piece of jewerly from Mom. All in all, it was a great Christmas. We hope that every one also had a great day.

We did our annual Christmas Trip to Disneyland this last weekend. We started by going to San Diego to see our niece Bailey dance in the Nutcracker. Sunday morning we went to Disneyland and met up with Lauren and Justin. They left that night and we stayed until Tuesday. We had a great time getting away from it all. Now its on to Christmas!

Today is Trevors 10th Birthday! We can not believe how fast the years have passed. These two pictures are from dinner at the house on Sunday when the whole family came over for dinner and Ice Cream Cake. Tonight we took him to Olive Garden for dinner. There we had a small cake too. Scouts Overnighter

Trevor and I went on our first of what I am sure going to be many scout campouts. For those of you who know me, you will understand that when I say that my idea of roughing it, is a 2 star hotel. But went we did and we had a great time. Got the tent set up. Cooked our tinfoil dinners, then told stories around the fire. Went to bed and tried to sleep. We got up to a beautiful morning at 47 degrees. Made breakfast, broke camp and went on hike. I survived and so did Trevor and the other boys. It was a fun time. Really it was!!

End of Summer Disneyland Trip

This is just like a picture we took back 6 years ago.

So, we took a couple night trip down to Disneyland to close out the summer. We now understand why we don't normally make a trip in the summer. Just way to crowded! We saw The Electrical Light Parade on Thursday night. Got up Friday morning and hit the park early and then went back to the hotel for a swim and dinner at Old Spaghetti Factory. Saturday morning we opened the park again and did some shopping and headed home! We of course will be planning another trip in the next few months, once it cools off and the crowds thin out!

The Women in my Life

This has been a long few weeks. But, this past week has really been tough. Arlene Waters, Tami's Mom, past away on Sunday July 26th from cancer. It was her 73rd birthday. She was a remarkable women. She was just one of the best. She had a heart of gold. She loved her family. She loved when everyone was home for Sunday dinner at her house. I think that there were times she forgot to eat because she was so busy visiting with everyone! But that's how she was. She was unselfish with her love, and she loved unconditionally. And she was proud of her family and would tell anyone who would listen. We had a beautiful service here on Thursday and then on Friday we all drove up to Idaho (that's another blog). We had a service and burial there. 22+ hours of driving in 3 days gives you time to reflect and remember. I am so grateful for her love for me and for my family. From day 1, I don't think I called her Arlene, it was always Mom. It makes it even harder, because just 3 years ago, the day after Arlene's service, was the anniversary of my Mom's passing. So the drive home on Sunday also had me consumed with thoughts of my own Mom. She too was a great women who loved her family. She was always there for us when we needed her. She loved us, she cared for us, and she too loved her Grandchildren. Not a day goes by that I don't think of her and miss her.

When I think of these two great Mom's, I can't help but to think of the best Mom ever to my own children. Tami. As I watched her over the last couple weeks, my heart broke for what she was going through. He emotions started to catch up to her physically, and the Parkinson's kicked in even harder. But she never complained. She wanted to keep going and doing, and I made her stop and take it easy. She is my absolute strength. She is the reason that I am who I am. She is my eternal companion. She is my all.

The other women in my life have to include my beautiful and caring daughters. They bring so much joy to me and to their Mom. We are so proud of the wonderful and compassionate women that they have become. They were there for Tami when she needed them the most. I am also so grateful for a wonderful sister. She is always there for us. She is someone who I can turn to when I need a friend. I am very thankful for Tami's sister Tonya. She was there everyday with Arlene. She filled in for Tami when she just couldn't be there. I know that Tami will be forever grateful for that. There are others too. Like Aunts, Nieces, Sister-in-laws, Cousins, and Friends who all rallied around the family during this difficult time. To all of you I also say Thank You.

I can not express enough the love that I have for my two Mom's. I miss them, but also know, with all my heart, that I will see these two great Mom's again.

So alot has happened since our last post and so I am going to do a quick update with some pictures to get everyone up to date. Going to start with Trevor's last day of school. Here he is with his medal he won for reading. There is also a picture of me on stage with him when I presented the school with 50000 Campells School Labels that I won in a contest and donated to his school.

We then took an overnight trip to Disneyland. It was great as always. Sometimes the only time we relax is when we get away.

What Are The Odds...

So, what are the odds of this happening. Here's the story!! For Tami's Birthday, my family bought us tickets to see Donny and Marie. The show was last night at the Flamingo Hotel. We got to the show and got our seats at the table. Right before the show was to start, this women walks past us. I thought I recognized her. She then walked past us again, and I realized that it was the women who got me the job at the Osmond Studios in Orem, Utah 30 years ago. So here is some history: Back in 1979 while going to BYU. I met Patti through a friend who was a good friend of Marie's and worked at the studio. She got me a job as a tour guide at the studio. I worked there for about a year doing tours and working during taping of their shows. So now, fast forward 30 years and I see her. I stand up and reintroduce myself to her. After a second, she remembers me too. We talk for just a second before the show starts. It was a great show. Very fun and entertaining. So after the show, she invites us back to the meet and greet. So we are standing there catching up with Patti , who had just flown in that day to hang out with Marie, when Donny and Marie walk in. Now there is at least 50 people waiting to meet them, when Patti brings us up to them and introduces us to them. Tells them that I used to work at the studio. They were both very nice and gracious to us. We then had our picture taken with them. We then stood and talked with Patti and a friend of hers for an hour while they did the meet and greet. It really was a fun night. So again, what are the odds of us being at that show, at that table, when Patti comes into town and walks by and recongizing her. It was meant to be.

Tami's 50th Birthday Week!

It was Tami's 50th birthday on Wednesday. We took the whole week to celebrate. Just the two of us went down to Disneyland for her birthday. We spent 3 days just taking it easy and with no set schedule. We went and saw a movie one day (Star Trek, highly recommend it), did some shopping and just relaxed. It was a nice and a fun way to celebrate Tami's birthday. After that, the fun really started.

We have been planning a surprise party for Tami for months. We started planning this even before we knew of Tami's diagnosis. Well the day finally arrived. She had no clue until the moment I had to push her through the door of the party. We planned a Fiesta At 50. Each girl had a part of the party, and it was a great success. Tami's brother Jeff and his wife Jennifer and girls came up from CA. My brother Tommy and his daughter Melinda flew in from Virginia. My oldest brother Gary and his wife Kathy came in from Dallas. Joan and YB and kids came up from San Diego. We had lots of other family and friends there to help us celebrate.

We had make your own taco's, cake and ice cream and plenty of left-overs. We even had a pinata! We can not Thank everyone enough who help to put this all togeather, who cooked, who travelled near and far to be part of this celebration.

To Tami, all I can say is how much I love you and how fun all of these past years have been. You are a great wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. I know that I speak for everyone to wish you the Best Birthday Ever!

Trevor was a TREE!!

The 3rd grade did a play in school this past week. It was a take on "Little Red Riding Hood." Trevor got to play a tree. Not just a plain old Oak. No these trees were singing and dancing. It was fun to watch all the kids get into the music and do their parts so well. He was a very good tree!

Quick Trip to California

So we had a quick trip to San Diego to go to Legoland and have breakfast at Potato Shack. We did a stop at the beach and hung out at my sisters. Thanks Joan, YB and kids for letting us drop in. It was a fun trip even if it was quick.

27 Years

27 Years!! On Friday we celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary. It is amazing that it has been that long. We can remember our Wedding Day very clearly, surrounded by family and friends. It is the rest of the years that are a total blur! So now, 4 children, 3 son-in-laws, and 4 grandchildren later, we are celebrating all that we have. After 27 years, life is even better!! Heres to many, many more.

Disneyland March 09 and Mason's 1st Birthday

So, we had the greatest time at Disneyland. Except for the crowds, it was great. I think that all of the kids and even the adults enjoyed themselves. Here is just a sample of the ton of pictures that we all took. We got there on Monday, opened and closed the park on Tuesday and after a half a day on Wednesday were ready to go. I think that we wore Tami out on Tuesday and after a couple of hours and too much heat on Wednesday we headed for home. We left the big kids and grandkids to stay and play for a few more hours. What fun we had celebrating Mason's 1st birthday. Great idea Katie!! And thanks Taryn for all your planning!!

Diagnosis

As many of you know, Tami has not been her normal self for about a year now. She has had balance issues and stiffness and trouble walking and moving. After a few different doctors, we have finally been given a diagnosis. She has early onset Parkinson's Disease. She has all of the affects of Parkinson's including the tremors and muscle stiffness. There is comfort in at least knowing what we are dealing with. Now we can take action.

As of right now, there is no cure for Parkinson's, however the symtoms can be treated. She has started taking medication and is already seeing positive effects. Movement is getting easier and the tremors are minimal. It will take some time to get the proper dosage worked out for her, but we are hopeful. She is a strong women who is determined not to let this change our quality of life. It will be a lifestyle change for the family but not one that we, with the help of the Lord, will not be able to handle.

We ask that you please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. We will keep you posted on any changes.

That being said, what else do you do when you have a life altering event happen? We're going to DISNEYLAND!! We are going this Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. We are going to celebrate Mason's 1st birthday. Katie, Jesse, Julie, and Ardith are also going to celebrate. Taryn, Ben and the kids will be there too. Lauren and Justin will not be able to join us, we will miss them. So look for tons of pictures and post from all of us next week.

Girls Nail Escape while Grandpa Babysits

Well, Tami thought it would be nice to take all the girls out to get Pedicures. Taryn already had one this week, so she got a manicure. That left Bob (Grandpa) to watch all four of his wonderful Grandkids. Uncle Trevor was there for a few minutes before he had to leave for Scouts. So the five of us had a great time togeather. We took a long, long walk down to the park and played on the swingset and junglegym. We then made our way home and had Poptarts!! The girls got home right after that and relieved Grandpa. They had a great time just catching up. Here are some pictures. Forgot the camera when we went to the park. (Oh well).

Disneyland Feb. 2009

We just got back from a quick trip to Disneyland. Just went overnight. The weather on Wed. was great. On Thurs. the weather got cooler and the rain started. We toughed it out for a few hours before heading home.

Here is Trevor with the driver of the Monorail. We were able to ride upfront on one trip into the park. We had a great couple of days escaping reality!! Next trip in March when the whole family is going. Can't wait!!!

Trevor Basketball 2009

Trevor is playing basketball again this year. He is on the Celtics team. All the boys get a chance to play, so some time is spent on the bench. They have played 3 games and have won 2 and lost 1. It is a good way for him to channel his energy. Oh to have all that energy again!! We will keep you posted on how the season progresses.

Cub Scouts this year did a Space Derby. Here are some pictures of Trevor and his rocket. A HUGH thanks to Grandpa Waters for the help in getting the rocket ready. Trevor then painted it himself. He didn't win, but had a good showing. The night was full of technical difficulties, but the boys had fun and thats what matters!!

New Years 2009

So we have started a family tradition this year. Every New Years Day we are going to our favorite place to eat to celebrate. Fudds!! We all met there on New Years Day. 20 in all. My sister Joan and her family, all of the kids with their families and the Russells. It was a fun time for all of us, and of course the burgers were great!

On Friday, everyone came home for an easy dinner and to open the last of the Christmas presents that Joan had brought. Games were played and everyone really enjoyed themselves. There is no greater joy for a parent then to have everyone home and the sounds of laughter fill the house. Hope your New Year is full of laughter and love. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Christmas Day 2008

Well, Christmas was here and gone in no time. We had a great day spending it with family. It started out with the annual breakfast at the Gaineys (Thanks Tonya and Leonard!). We then spent the mid part of the day trying to put together Lego sets and getting dinner started. The married girls spent time with their husbands families until it was dinner time when everyone came over and ate. At dinner we all opened our "poppers" and got our prizes and wore our crowns during dinner. After that we opened presents and just spent time with each other. We all had fun and enjoyed the day. We hope that you too had a great Christmas.

Christmas Trip to Disneyland (yes again!)

So, Tami and Trevor and I did our annual Christmas trip to Disneyland. The weather was great and the crowds were not too bad. We had a fun time and always enjoy our visits. It was so nice to get away and spend some quality time together. Here are some of the pictures that we took while we were there.

California Trip

After taking the summer off, we took our first trip back to Disneyland the first week of October. It is one of our favorite times to go to Disneyland because it is all decorated for Halloween.
We had a fun time, even if it was way hot for October.

We left Disney land on Friday evening and headed to San Diego to spend a couple days with my sister Joan and her family. We had fun just relaxing and visiting with them and watching the Blue Angels fly by us on the 10th floor of her office.
Sunday Morning we went to one of our most favorite restaurants, The Potato Shack. Way good food.

After we ate, we stopped by the beach on our way home. Trevor just stripped off his shirt and jumped in. It was a good trip and fun to get away. We are already planning our next trip. Thanks to Joan and YB for letting us stay. Thanks to Lauren and Justin for house sitting and taking care of Phoebe.

The Wedding

Well, we have just about recovered from "The Wedding". Lauren's and Justin's wedding on Saturday was a wonderful day. It started Friday night by setting up the church for the reception. We had lots and lots of help and we are very grateful for that since we did not get into the church until after 9:30 pm. Lights were hung, tables set and decorated and backdrops in place by 11:30. Thank-you to everyone who helped us get set up. The morning was perfect, except for the heat. They had a beautiful sealing. They were pronounced man and wife at 10:25 am (Thanks Grandpa). Lots of pictures at the temple grounds. Justin's parents, Rod and Diane, then hosted a lunch at The Claim Jumper! Thanks for the great food. We then set up the food and took pictures before the reception. The 2 hours of the reception flew by. It was fun to finally relax and enjoy the day. The happy couple left for their honeymoon, and clean up began. We would really like to thank everyone that helped so much to make that day special for everyone. To everyone that worked kitchen duty, to set-up and take down, to all of the support, we can not Thank-You enough. We could have never done it alone. I guess, that's what family is for. Lauren and Justin would also thank you if they were home from Hawaii. But they do not come home until tomorrow. We have a few years until we will need to do this again and for that we are also grateful!! It was a good day!!

Father of the Bride!!

We are right in the middle of trying to marry off our last daughter. With one month to go, most of the plans are falling into place even if they are alittle behind schedule. IE: announcements will not go out till next monday due to printing issues. We still have a few things to get and the backdrop to stain, but other than that we are getting there. My wallet is not empty...yet. The most important part is that Lauren has found herself an outstanding man that is taking her to the temple. So no matter what happens at the reception, it is the creation of an eternal family that day in the temple that counts. We are so proud of both of them and can not fully express our love for them and our other girls and their spouses, grandchildren and Trevor.

Where Has The Time Gone?

Where has the time gone? Lauren turned 21 this week and Stryder turned 5. Soren will be 2 next week. I remember all of these events like it was yesterday. The problem is that Mom and I do not feel any older (well, OK so we have alot more aches and pains the stuff like that but at times feels like newlyweds.). 26 years of marriage, 4 kids, 2 (almost 3) son-in-laws and 4 grandkids later we are the 2 most blessed parents ever. The joy that we have from all of our family cannot be put into words. I thank our Heavenly Father daily for the joy and love that each one has brought into our lives. Instead of celebrating Fathers Day this weekend, I should be celebrating family day. Because being a father to my family is worth celebrating!!
